Scouts
The Scout Section is for young people, both boys and girls, usually aged between 10 and 14 years. The Scout Troop is the third section in the Scout Group, after Beavers and Cubs.
Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme and can earn a number of badges for their participation, hobbies and interests, as well as learning new skills for life. Scouts who want to be challenged and recognised for their achievements are encouraged to aim for their Chief Scouts Gold Award by earning a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges.
Being outdoors is a key part of the Scout section programme, focusing on both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as a wide range of adventurous activities.
Here in Buckinghamshire, we aim to ensure that sections are youth led, and Scouts are encouraged to have a greater say in their program plans, events and projects. Across Buckinghamshire, we have a number of Youth Councils, who meet regularly to ensure Scouting remains Youth Shaped.
Above all, Scouts in Buckinghamshire have great fun, make lots of new friends, are inclusive to all and learn skills for life!
