Scouting in Bucks
Scouting is based in and part of the local community. It is for all young people, female and male, and from all cultures and faiths. The activities – the programme that we offer – are provided by adult volunteers, supported by a small professional staff.
We work in and with the local community, in the places where our volunteers and members live. But we interact and contribute to the communities that make up Buckinghamshire and the UK, playing a full part in the international world in which we live.
Scouting continues to play a major part in the life of the communities that comprise Buckinghamshire. Across Buckinghamshire about 1 person in 4 will have been in Scouting at some time in their life and just fewer than 10% of young people between 6 and 18 are regularly taking part in our activities.
Please browse through the website to find out more about the different age groups and activities available and get in touch if you would like to join or volunteer.
Scouting for All
Scouting is fully inclusive and welcomes all young people irrespective of disability, faith and ethnicity. In respect of disability every part of the organization at all levels and locations does all it can to comply with the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act so that no-one is excluded.
Buckinghamshire Scout Council has for many years appointed an Assistant County Commissioner responsible for Special Needs who, supported by a Team from all parts of the County, promotes fullest accessibility and integration into what Scouting has to offer to young people. If you require any information surrounding disability in the context of Scouting please contact County Office who will be happy to put you in touch with the Assistant County Commissioner (Special Needs & Relationships).
